The Opportunity

Initially, you will work alongside our experienced team preparing accounts, tax returns and supporting compliance work.

Over time, you will develop your technical knowledge, client communication skills and commercial awareness, progressing towards becoming an Account Manager responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients.

You will receive support, training and mentoring from senior members of the team throughout your journey.

Key Responsibilities

Initially

  • Preparing year-end accounts
  • Assisting with corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns
  • Bookkeeping and VAT return preparation
  • Preparing working papers and supporting schedules
  • Liaising with clients to obtain information
  • Supporting Account Managers with client work
  • Using cloud accounting software including Xero and related applications

As You Develop

  • Attending client meetings
  • Managing client communications
  • Reviewing work completed by junior team members
  • Understanding client businesses and identifying opportunities to support them
  • Managing deadlines and workflow
  • Developing into a trusted point of contact for clients

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • AAT qualified or currently studying AAT
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping principles
  • Experience preparing accounts and/or tax returns
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Strong organisational skills

Desirable

  • Minimum 1–2 years' experience in an accountancy practice environment
  • Experience using Xero
  • Experience preparing limited company accounts
  • Experience with personal tax and corporation tax
  • Exposure to client communications
  • Intention to progress towards ACCA or ACA
