Company
Our settings provide a real point of differentiation for our children, our parents and our teams. The environments for education and work are of the highest standards and we quite rightly have a strong reputation across London and the wider south-east. Fennies Real Estate is the development arm of Fennies Nurseries, a market leading early Year brand. The Real Estate arm has been established for over a decade and is committed to combining innovative thinking with quality construction. We work collaboratively with a mix of expert designers and architects to create bespoke properties and transform existing spaces into modern developments.
What further sets Fennies apart from the wider early years sector, is our strong and well-defined culture, which places people at the heart of our growth and performance. Unlike many organisations, the DNA of Fennies has been identified and described by the very team members and leadership teams, who experience it. Take a look at our social media activity and you will see how our qualities really come to life. You can also see some of our cultural headlines (our 'Pillars') in the narrative for this role (see below).
We're dedicated to building outstanding spaces that reflect our clients' needs by leveraging off their existing goals and aspirations. By fostering these skills inhouse it allows us to constantly refine and improve both our designs and the quality of our workmanship.
Our residential ventures include mix use schemes and entirely residential projects. Quality is central to everything we create, by combining meticulous project management with a focus on the finest details and hand-selected materials, we set a new standard for exceptional design.
Fennies is now looking to appoint a new role of Design Manager which is a critical role for us as we continue to expand.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Management of the design process for all projects from conception to completion on site (RIBA Stages 0-6) including producing and monitoring design programmes, reviewing design information and chairing design team meetings
- Working directly with the acquisitions team to manage projects from the outset including planning application submissions
- Appointment of external design consultants including defining the scope of services
- Management of design information and issues
- Chairing design reviews and presentations
- Management of relationships
- Monitoring design changes and implement change control procedures for client agreement
- Working with the operations and education teams at Fennies to develop practical and inspiring learning spaces for both children and the teams in collaboration with the design team
- Assisting the project QS in the preparation and evaluation of procurement information
- Development of processes to improve efficiency of design stages
- Assisting the Construction Manager to obtain Building Control approvals
- Undertaking quality inspections on site to provide reports and ensure compliance with the design/contract information
- Management of RFIs and technical queries during detailed design and construction stages
- Development of post-completion project reviews to improve internal processes and provide feedback to design team
The right candidate will have at least 7 years' experience working within the construction industry for developers, main contractors or consultants. Experience of management of pre-construction design stages is essential.
If you want to be part of a high values and high-performance culture and creating lasting legacies is important to you, in a dynamic environment, then we'd like to hear from you.
