Fennies is now looking to appoint a new role of Design Manager which is a critical role for us as we continue to expand.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Management of the design process for all projects from conception to completion on site (RIBA Stages 0-6) including producing and monitoring design programmes, reviewing design information and chairing design team meetings
• Working directly with the acquisitions team to manage projects from the outset including planning application submissions
• Appointment of external design consultants including defining the scope of services
• Management of design information and issues
• Chairing design reviews and presentations
• Management of relationships
• Monitoring design changes and implement change control procedures for client agreement
• Working with the operations and education teams at Fennies to develop practical and inspiring learning spaces for both children and the teams in collaboration with the design team
• Assisting the project QS in the preparation and evaluation of procurement information
• Development of processes to improve efficiency of design stages
• Assisting the Construction Manager to obtain Building Control approvals
• Undertaking quality inspections on site to provide reports and ensure compliance with the design/contract information
• Management of RFIs and technical queries during detailed design and construction stages
• Development of post-completion project reviews to improve internal processes and provide feedback to design team

The right candidate will have at least 7 years' experience working within the construction industry for developers, main contractors or consultants. Experience of management of pre-construction design stages is essential.
