Summary of Position

Pillars Brewery Taproom, Walthamstow E17 9HQ

As Venues Manager you will be the heartbeat of our two flagship sites: the Brewery Taproom and the Malt Haus, delivering great beer, great people experiences, and great business results. Both venues showcase Pillars’ award-winning lagers brewed in East London, rooted in quality and community.

You’ll oversee the full operation of the Taproom and the Malt Haus. From opening through to closing: including rota planning, stock ordering, cellar maintenance and events.

Partner with our brewers and venue teams to ensure our beer is served at its best, including keeping cellar cleanliness to a very high standard and ensure beer is served in line with Pillars perfect pour.

Build and manage the staffing rota to ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time, delivering exceptional guest experiences and optimising labour cost efficiency.

Utilise our ePOS and inventory management systems to track pouring metrics, margins, wastage and make smart decisions that protect profitability while staying true to the brand’s promise of quality.

Plan, deliver and market events both on-site and off-site (for example at festivals, private hires, brand activations) that elevate the Pillars brand, draw new audiences and boost revenue.

Own your budgets: revenue targets, margin performance, cost control (including staff cost) and growth in number of events each year. Hit your targets and you’ll reward yourself via a bonus.

What success looks like:

  • A lively, welcoming vibe across both venues that reflects Pillars’ community-first, craft lager ethos.
  • Strong commercial performance: consistent growth in revenue, improved margins, controlled staff cost, and a calendar of high-impact events.
  • Smooth, well-organised operations—excellent stock control, minimal downtime, well-maintained cellar & equipment, and efficient team rotas.
  • Effective event delivery that not only generates revenue, but enhances brand visibility and guest loyalty.

Why this role matters:

Pillars Brewery was founded to brew some of the UK’s best lagers by a team of family and friends.

The Taproom and Malt Haus are more than venues; they are physical expressions of our craft, our community and our brand. As Venues General Manager, you’re not just managing venues, you're shaping the guest experience, representing our story, and driving the commercial engine that enables us to keep brewing with integrity and ambition.
