Full job description

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Construction Tutor to join our team, delivering high-quality teaching, training, and assessment to learners pursuing qualifications in construction trades. Whether you're an experienced educator or a skilled industry professional looking to move into teaching, this is a fantastic opportunity to shape the next generation of construction workers.

You’ll be delivering engaging, practical, and theory-based sessions in subjects such as bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing, plastering, or general construction skills. Sessions may take place in colleges, training centres, or community settings — therefore, a full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between locations is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with relevant awarding body specifications (e.g., City & Guilds, EAL).
  • Support learners with a range of needs and backgrounds, ensuring inclusive and differentiated learning.
  • Provide constructive feedback and assessment to help learners progress and achieve their goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of learner progress and contribute to progress reviews and internal quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure a safe and effective learning environment, adhering to all safeguarding and health and safety standards.
  • Travel to delivery sites as required, ensuring reliable transport between locations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Significant industry experience in one or more construction trades.
  • Recognised teaching or assessing qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, TAQA, or willingness to work towards).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle — driving is a key part of the role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A learner-centred approach with a commitment to supporting individuals to succeed.
  • Ability to work flexibly across different locations.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering accredited construction training.
  • Level 3 qualification or above in a relevant trade or teaching.
  • Familiarity with apprenticeship standards or vocational qualification frameworks.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary up to £30,000 (pro-rata for part-time roles).
  • Flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle.
  • Professional development opportunities, including funded teaching qualifications.
  • Supportive team culture and access to resources and mentoring.
  • Mileage reimbursement for travel between sites.

If you're ready to inspire and upskill future construction professionals, we’d love to hear from you.
