Job Summary

The successful candidate will be a proactive individual with bricklaying experience across a variety of (commercial and domestic) properties. Will have a good eye for detail and a can-do attitude.

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Laying brick and blocks to the required specification.
  • Accurate preparation of mortar and the ability to apply or remove mortar with a trowel.
  • Working accurately from detailed plans and specifications
  • Sealing foundations with damp resistant materials
  • Using spirit levels and plumb lines to check building alignment
  • Using hand tools, power tools and brick cutting machinery in a safe manner
  • Repairing and maintaining building works
  • Measure out build areas and setting out
  • Working outdoors on construction sites and working at height
  • Keep work area clean, neat, and tidy at all times
  • Orders parts and supplies as required and maintains stock and inventory control.
  • To complete general labouring duties that fall within your capability, in line with the needs of the business.
  • Complete tasks in line with own specialism, ability and requirements.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the required standard and deadlines.
  • Perform other duties within your capabilities as assigned.
  • Maintain the reputation of the company for high standards of work and professionalism at all time.
  • To work as a positive team player, demonstrating mutual respect and integrity for others whilst maintaining open and effective communication at all levels with the business.

The above tasks are not exhaustive and serve to provide an indication of expectations. You will also be expected to carry out any additional tasks or responsibilities that fall within your capability.

Key Skill/Experience Requirements

  • NVQ/ City and Guilds in a relevant field would be advantageous – City and Guilds Level 2 Bricklaying or Equivalent
  • CSCS card, can be obtained via company scheme
  • Valid UK Driving License
  • Minimum 3 years Bricklaying experience
  • Substantial, relevant experience and/or qualifications in working at height and health and safety and the ability to work in accordance with health and safety requirements as a matter of routine.

Your work will take you into buildings with children and vulnerable adults, therefore you will be asked to complete an enhanced DBS check.
