Full job description

Reporting to Site Manager

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on general builder to join our site team and help complete the conversion of an existing property into four self-contained flats. This role is for an individual tradesperson who can take ownership of their work and work alongside the other trades on site.

What you’ll be doing

  • Carrying out brickwork, blockwork and general masonry repairs.
  • Building internal partitions, forming or making good openings and preparing rooms for follow-on trades.
  • Completing general building repairs and snagging as the flats progress towards handover.
  • Working from drawings and following the site manager’s instructions.
  • Flagging any issues with the existing building or drawings before carrying out work that could affect the structure or fire protection.
  • Keeping your work area safe and tidy and letting the site manager know what materials you need in advance.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a general builder on residential refurbishments or conversions.
  • Strong practical bricklaying and blockwork skills, with the ability to turn your hand to other general building tasks.
  • Ability to read drawings, work independently and finish tasks to a good standard.
  • Reliable attendance and clear communication with the site manager and other trades.
  • References or examples of similar work.
