Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Bricklayer and Labourer to join our dynamic construction team. The job will initially be in downham market and then be moving to ipswich in a few weeks… This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of building projects, from residential to commercial structures. As a key member of our crew, you will be instrumental in constructing durable, high-quality brickwork and masonry while supporting the overall workflow with your labouring skills. This paid position is perfect for individuals eager to develop their craft, contribute to meaningful projects, and grow within a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Mix mortar and prepare bricks, blocks, and other masonry materials for construction
  • Lay bricks, stones, and blocks accurately according to project specifications and blueprints
  • Use hand tools such as trowels, hammers, levels, and chisels to execute precise masonry work
  • Operate power tools including drills, saws, and grinders safely and efficiently
  • Assist with carpentry tasks related to formwork or scaffolding setup as needed
  • Support roofing activities by preparing surfaces or assisting with installation processes
  • Maintain a clean worksite by organizing materials and disposing of debris regularly

Requirements

  • Prior experience or training in bricklaying, masonry, or related trades is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
  • Proficiency with hand tools such as trowels, hammers, chisels, and levels
  • Ability to operate power tools safely and responsibly
  • Basic understanding of carpentry, roofing, and welding techniques is a plus but not required
  • Strong physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods
  • Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude towards learning new skills
  • Valid safety certifications or willingness to obtain necessary safety training prior to starting
