Full job description

Overview

Carry out re-pointing and mortar fillet work where required to help protect and maintain brick and masonry structures. You’ll prepare surfaces, remove deteriorated mortar and apply sand/ cement mortar with care, following safe working practices.

Most raking out will be traditional hammer-and-plugging chisel and there is experienced labour available to help with mixing up and sweeping up etc.

The building has a full wrap-around, netted scaffold to second floor level. The scaffold is a pristine, safe working area.

This job is NOT bricklaying; it is a task of repair to an existing structure.

Your impact: Sound, neatly finished joints help protect buildings from water ingress and preserve the appearance of the masonry.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect joints and surfaces, identifying areas that need repair.
  • Remove loose or damaged mortar and prepare joints for re-pointing.
  • Mix and apply mortar, shaping joints and fillets to a tidy finish.
  • Use tools safely and keep the work area organised.

Skills

  • Practical experience with hand tools and power tools.
  • Bricklaying or masonry skills are useful.
  • Careful workmanship, attention to detail and a safety-conscious approach.

Pay: £25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 per week

Benefits:

  • Free parking
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
