Groundworker/Bricklayer
Location: Newhaven, East Sussex, BN9 9DD
We are looking for an experienced Groundworker/Bricklayer to join our team and support the successful delivery of domestic and adaptation projects. This role involves carrying out a variety of groundwork and bricklaying tasks, including excavation, drainage, foundations, paving and brickwork, while ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out all aspects of groundwork, including excavation, drainage, foundations, concreting, and paving.
- Carry out brick and blockwork, including cavity work and garden walls
- Work from drawings and specifications to ensure accurate execution of tasks.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards.
- Operate small plant, such as excavators and dumpers, as needed to complete tasks.
- Work effectively alongside site teams, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain smooth site operations.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including:
- Adhering to risk assessments and method statements.
- Using appropriate PPE and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Assist with general site maintenance and organisation to keep the work area safe and tidy.
- Communicate effectively with the site manager and wider team to report progress and any issues.
About You:
This is a great opportunity for a skilled Groundworker/Bricklayer looking to work on a variety of domestic and adaptation projects. The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience as a Groundworker and Bricklaying within the construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of groundwork techniques, including foundations & oversites, drainage, retaining work, paving, brickwork and concrete finishes.
- The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- A proactive and professional approach, ensuring high standards are maintained.
- A strong understanding of health and safety regulations on-site.
- Experience working in both larger and smaller-scale projects, with adaptability to different challenges.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid driving licence.
- Access to your own vehicle is desirable, although a company vehicle is also available to the right candidate.
- Experience operating small plant machinery (e.g., excavators, dumpers), with licenses an advantage.
