We are the leading SME construction company in our area and we take great pride in our dedication to craftsmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction within the community.
Summary
We are seeking a skilled Bricklayer / Groundworker to join our team in the Dorset area. Based in Dorchester, this role involves working on diverse residential and commercial projects, contributing to our mission of building durable and high-quality projects.
We have many great clients including Dorset County Hospital, MOD, NHS, National Trust, Many Housing Associations and Dorset Council; and many private clients too.
- Competitive Salary depending on experience and knowledge.
- Based in Dorchester, but working throughout the DT and BH postcode areas.
Qualities and Responsibilities
- Carry out high-quality brickwork, blockwork, and masonry tasks with precision and professionalism.
- Undertake essential groundworks, including drainage, foundations, concreting, and site preparation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and relevant site machinery efficiently and safely to complete assigned projects.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safety standards and project deadlines are met.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Interpret technical drawings, structural plans, and specifications accurately.
- Support project managers and site foremen in planning and executing construction activities from the ground up.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bricklayer, Groundworker, or similar dual-trade role in the building industry, ideally with at least 5 years of experience.
- Strong skills in bricklaying, blockwork, and foundational groundworks.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and ground equipment safely.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations on construction sites.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., CSCS card, CPCS/NPORS for plant machinery) are preferred but not mandatory. Ideally NVQ Level 3, but Level 2 will be considered.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform heavy manual labour.
- A valid Driving Licence will be required (ideally without endorsements).
