Full job description
Step into the heart of patient care with an exciting opportunity at Broomfield Hospital’s Emergency Department. We are seeking dedicated Receptionists/Administrators to join our front desk team, where no two days are the same. This is your chance to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, acting as the welcoming face of the department and often the very first point of contact for patients and their families during critical moments.
In this varied role, you will be responsible for booking in patients and ambulances using the Lorenzo system, managing incoming calls, accurately recording messages, and maintaining essential patient records. Your professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to stay calm under pressure will be key in supporting both clinical teams and those seeking urgent care.
We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, compassionate, and highly organised, with strong communication skills and confidence using computer systems. You will play a vital role in creating a reassuring and efficient experience for patients, relatives, and colleagues alike.
With flexible working patterns supporting a 24/7 service, this role offers a range of shifts including early, late, and night duties, as well as weekends and bank holidays. There will be an expectation that you will need to work some night shifts. If you are ready to make a real difference at the frontline of healthcare, we would love to hear from you.
Play a vital role at the centre of patient care by joining the Emergency Department team at Broomfield Hospital as an Administrator. In this fast-paced and rewarding environment, you will provide a comprehensive, flexible, and efficient administrative service, supporting the department through a rotational shift pattern that keeps our service running around the clock.
Your role will be essential in ensuring every patient’s journey begins smoothly and safely. You will create and manage patient attendance records, making sure all information is entered accurately and in a timely manner. With a keen eye and a proactive approach, you will help monitor patients in the waiting area, identifying those who may require urgent attention and quickly alerting nursing staff when necessary.
Working confidently both independently and as part of a wider team, you will follow established departmental protocols while using your initiative to respond to the changing demands of the department. Strong communication skills are key, as you will be interacting with patients and their relatives at all times, including during periods of distress, offering reassurance and maintaining a calm, professional presence.
If you are organised, adaptable, and compassionate, and thrive in a busy healthcare setting where your contribution truly matters, this is an opportunity to make a real difference every day.
Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
For full details about this varied and rewarding role, please see attached job description.
We look forward to your application.
