Full job description

Do you love fashion, people and leading by example?

If you're passionate about delivering remarkable customer experiences, inspiring others and bringing a brand to life every day, we'd love to hear from you.

Joe Browns was founded by Simon Brown in 1998, inspired by a group of friends enjoying a beer in a beach bar called The Ty Coch Inn in Morfa Nefyn, North Wales, at the end of a great day surfing some waves. Fresh out of the sea, salt in their hair, laughing, joking and totally carefree, they were having an absolute blast.

That was the essence, right there, of Joe Browns: FUN, SPONTANEOUS and FREE!

Everything we do revolves around making people feel good.

We're not trend-setters by any means – that's really not our bag – but what we do create are remarkable products that help our customers feel confident, liberated and totally individual.

We look for people who aren't afraid to be themselves, who think creatively and commercially, and who inspire others through their positivity, passion and determination.

About the Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Retail Supervisor to join our friendly team at our White Rose store for 32 hours per week.

As a Supervisor, you'll support the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in leading the team, delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving store performance. You'll be a role model for the Joe Browns brand and values, helping to create a positive, high-energy environment where both customers and colleagues can thrive.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll spend much of your time on the shop floor, coaching colleagues, supporting customers and ensuring the store looks its absolute best.

What You'll Be Doing

No two days are ever the same (just how we like it). You'll be:

  • Supporting the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in the day-to-day running of the store
  • Leading the team confidently in the absence of senior management
  • Delivering a remarkable customer experience that drives sales and loyalty
  • Inspiring, motivating and coaching team members to achieve their full potential
  • Providing regular observation-based feedback and supporting colleague development
  • Supporting the achievement of store KPIs and commercial objectives
  • Driving customer data capture and customer engagement initiatives
  • Ensuring exceptional visual merchandising and housekeeping standards
  • Monitoring customer flow and reacting effectively to maximise sales opportunities
  • Supporting with cash handling and daily operational processes
  • Managing deliveries, stock movement and stock control procedures
  • Minimising stock loss and identifying potential risks
  • Ensuring company policies, procedures and compliance requirements are followed at all times
  • Supporting seasonal launches, promotional events, stock takes and sale preparations

Retail is hands-on, fast-paced and full of variety. As part of the role, you'll be comfortable with:

  • Being active on the shop floor throughout your shift
  • Supporting and communicating with customers and colleagues
  • Using tills and digital systems confidently
  • Handling stock, including lifting and carrying boxes
  • Moving stock around the store and stockroom
  • Using ladders and kick stools safely
  • Preparing and merchandising stock
  • Supporting deliveries and stock takes
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment

You'll also be flexible to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays and busy seasonal periods.

About You

You'll have previous retail experience in a fast-paced environment and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

You'll be someone who:

  • Leads by example and inspires those around them
  • Is confident, approachable and enjoys building relationships
  • Has strong organisational and delegation skills
  • Can remain calm and focused in a busy retail environment
  • Has a commercial mindset and understands how to drive sales performance
  • Is proactive, adaptable and willing to roll up their sleeves when needed
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism and accountability
  • Is passionate about the Joe Browns brand and values
  • Brings energy, enthusiasm and fresh ideas to the team

Most importantly, you'll have the confidence to be yourself and the drive to help others succeed.

What You'll Get in Return

We believe our people should feel as amazing as our customers:

  • 50% Staff Discount on clothing and selected homeware
  • Generous Uniform Allowance
  • Welcome Voucher (up to £100)
  • Health & Wellbeing Programme, including 24/7 support
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Pay
  • Annual Leave Buy & Sell Scheme
  • Life Assurance
  • Annual Social Events – because work should be fun too

Why Join Joe Browns?

Everything we do is about helping people feel confident, liberated and totally individual – and that includes our team.

Located in the vibrant White Rose Shopping Centre, you'll be part of a lively retail environment where no two days are ever the same. You'll have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, make a real impact and help shape an exceptional experience for both our customers and your fellow team members.
