Full job description

A bit about us.

Grind is a coffee company that lives in London. Since opening Shoreditch Grind in 2011, we've expanded across London with cafés, coffee trucks and a state-of-the-art coffee roastery.

Our cafes and coffee shops are the beating heart of Grind, they are where it all began. We're a bustling hub in the heart of London's most iconic places, known for serving our specialty coffee and renowned bottomless brunches.

We think coffee can be a force for good. Whether it's through creating the UK's first compostable coffee pods, our plastic-free packaging or carbon-free shipping - we're on a mission to be the world's most sustainable coffee company.

In 2023, we created our charity, the Better Coffee Foundation, to undo the damage done by the global coffee industry - in our first year, we recovered 43 million pods' worth of ocean-bound plastic.

About the role.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Pizza Chef de Partie to join our exclusive Shoreditch team — the only Grind location in the group that serves pizza. As our flagship pizza site, Shoreditch offers a unique environment where quality, creativity, and pace come together to deliver an elevated dining experience built around fresh dough and seasonal ingredients.

As a Pizza CDP, you will be responsible for supporting and running the pizza section to deliver exceptional pizzas that meet our Grind standards whilst also providing support for our brunch and small plates menus. You’ll be confident preparing dough, stretching, topping, and cooking at speed while maintaining consistency and precision. Collaboration is key — you’ll work closely with senior chefs and the wider kitchen team to deliver smooth, high-quality services in this fast-paced, high-volume site.

To be successful in this role, you must have previous experience in a pizza-focused kitchen and a solid understanding of dough handling, production flow, and pizza cooking techniques.

Role responsibilities.

  • Support the Back of House team in the daily operation of the Shoreditch pizza section.
  • Prepare, portion, stretch, top, and cook pizzas to exact Grind specifications, ensuring quality and speed during service.
  • Maintain exceptional food standards and uphold the reputation of our exclusive pizza site.
  • Keep the pizza section clean, organised, and compliant with all hygiene and food safety procedures.
  • Work closely with senior chefs to deliver smooth and efficient services.
  • Remain customer-focused, ensuring every pizza leaving the pass meets our high expectations.
  • Assist with dough preparation, stock rotation, mise en place, and general kitchen production.
  • Report any hazards, equipment issues, or maintenance needs to the Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef.
  • Wear the correct uniform and follow all kitchen procedures at all times.
  • Carry out any additional reasonable duties requested by your Line Manager.

You’ll have.

  • Strong communication skills to work effectively within a busy kitchen team.
  • Previous pizza kitchen experience, with confident dough skills and an ability to maintain quality under pressure.
  • Professionalism, resilience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced service environment.
  • A collaborative, team-first attitude with a focus on quality and consistency.
  • Commitment to high standards of hygiene, organisation, and section discipline.
  • Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a desire to grow your skills within an exclusive and unique Grind kitchen.
