Role Overview

We are seeking compassionate, skilled Learning Disability Support Workers to provide high-quality, person-centred support to adults with autism, learning disabilities, sensory processing difficulties and behaviours that challenge.

The individuals we support live in supported living or single-occupancy placements and require consistent, structured and proactive support to maintain safety, emotional regulation, independence and meaningful engagement in daily life and the community.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is calm, patient, resilient and committed to delivering positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and 2:1 support in line with individual care and support plans
  • Support with personal care, daily living tasks and independent skills
  • Promote emotional regulation and reduce behaviours that challenge using low-arousal and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches
  • Support individuals with sensory needs, communication difficulties and anxiety
  • Maintain structured, predictable routines to promote safety and wellbeing
  • Support safe access to the community, activities and meaningful engagement
  • Monitor and respond to health needs, including epilepsy and complex conditions where applicable
  • Work collaboratively with families, professionals and multidisciplinary teams
  • Complete accurate records, incident reports and daily notes
  • Maintain a trauma-informed, respectful and person-centred approach at all times

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Ability to work calmly and confidently with individuals who display behaviours that challenge
  • Understanding of sensory processing needs and emotional regulation
  • Good communication skills (including non-verbal communication strategies)
  • Ability to follow structured routines and care plans consistently
  • Willingness to work 1:1, 2:1, community-based and overnight shifts
  • A patient, empathetic and reliable approach

Desirable (But Not Essential)

  • Experience in supported living or complex needs services
  • Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
  • Experience supporting transitions (e.g. children’s to adult services)
  • Experience supporting individuals who lack capacity
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Health & Social Care, Care Certificate)

Full training will be provided.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay (dependent on experience)
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing specialist training
  • Consistent rotas and structured support environments
  • Supportive management and reflective supervision
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference in people’s lives

Who This Role Is For

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Values consistency, structure and routine
  • Can remain calm during periods of heightened anxiety or distress
  • Is committed to dignity, respect and person-centred care
  • Wants to develop skills in complex learning disability support

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £12.30-£15.00 per hour

  • Company pension
  • Referral programme
