Full job description

Ready to make a real difference? (And get paid to do it!) Do you have experience working in Care or Childcare? Maybe you already hold an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare, or perhaps you’ve been waiting for an employer who will actually pay for you to get one?

If you are a passionate practitioner ready for your next big step, we want to hear from you. Whether you’re looking to step up into a Senior Role or thrive as a Support Worker, this is your chance to blend hands-on therapeutic care with real career progression.

The Essentials:

  • Role: Support Worker or Senior Support Worker (Children’s Residential)
  • Location: West Buckland, Nr Wellington, Somerset (Beautiful countryside setting!)
  • Salary: £31,000 – £35,000 PA (Top rates for qualified Level 3 holding candidates!)
  • Closing Date: 20th July

## About Our Home: A Safe Haven for Healing

Nestled in a peaceful Somerset countryside location, our home is a therapeutic sanctuary. We provide structure, safety, and emotional security to incredible children and young people (aged 7 to 15) who have faced early adversity, trauma, or neglect.

We don't just "provide care"—we provide consistency, warmth, and a foundation for these young people to begin their journey toward recovery and independence.

## What Your Days Will Look Like

As a vital part of our team (and a mentor to colleagues if you step into the Senior role), you’ll be a role model within the home. You’ll shape both the young people’s experiences and help guide less experienced staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Trust: Develop deep, professional, and trusting relationships with our young people.
  • Coach & Mentor: Support and guide newer team members on shift, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Create Stability: Manage challenging behavior calmly, consistently, and with ultimate empathy.
  • Shape Futures: Take an active role in developing and reviewing personalised care plans.
  • Keep Things Running: Ensure daily routines run smoothly, safely, and full of positive energy.

## The Ultimate Work-Life Balance: Our 3-Week Rota

No more guessing when you’re working! Enjoy a fixed, predictable 3-week rolling cycle consisting of 25-hour shifts (9:45 AM to 10:45 AM the following day, including a sleep-in):

  • Week 1: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
  • Week 2: Tuesday, Friday, Sunday
  • Week 3: Thursday (Yes, just one shift this week!)

## What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be perfect, but you do need to care deeply. We are looking for:

  • Experience: Previous work in residential childcare, nurseries, schools, or similar care settings.
  • Qualifications: An NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare is a massive bonus, but not essential—we will happily fund and support you to get it!
  • Attributes: Calm under pressure, emotionally resilient, highly empathetic, and a great team player.
  • Logistics: A full UK driving licence is essential due to our beautiful, remote location (don't worry, we have a fleet of 5 pool cars for you to use while on duty!).
  • Compliance: An enhanced DBS check will be completed before you start.

## Perks of the Job (Why You’ll Love Working Here)

We look after our team so you can look after our young people. When you join us, you get:
