Full job description

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Working Foreman / Lead Carpenter to help deliver our domestic extensions, refurbishments and renovation projects.

This role suits a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in a high-quality finish and can take responsibility for day-to-day site progress. You’ll work closely with the business owner, organise a labourer and coordinate with subcontractors, keeping work moving when the owner is away from site.

Your responsibilities

● Carry out carpentry and general building work to a high standard.

● Plan daily tasks and organise labour effectively.

● Read drawings and identify material requirements in advance.

● Coordinate trades and flag problems before they cause delays.

● Check workmanship and complete snagging thoroughly.

● Keep sites safe, tidy and well organised.

● Communicate professionally with homeowners and provide clear progress updates.

● Refer changes to the agreed scope to the owner before proceeding.

What we’re looking for

● Proven experience in domestic extensions and renovations.

● A strong carpentry background, including first and second fix.

● Good practical skills across other aspects of refurbishment.

● Experience leading jobs or a small team.

● The ability to work independently and solve practical problems.

● Excellent attention to detail and pride in the finished job.

● Reliability, clear communication and respect for customers’ homes.

● A full driving licence and your own trade tools.

● Your own van preferred; vehicle arrangements and any allowance will be discussed.

You don’t need to be a specialist in every trade, but you must understand how a renovation comes together and recognise when specialist input is needed.
