An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join our Ossett Logistics team.

We are a large family run business originally established in 1877 in Gateshead, although the company has grown considerably to 11 branches from Northumberland to South Yorkshire and a turnover of over £100m, we have maintained the culture of a family business where each person is recognised as important to the success of the company.

Location: Ossett, WF5 9JE

Hours: 42.5 hours per week.

Salary: Depending on experience

DUTIES: As Transport Planner you will manually plan next day deliveries via our computer software, ensuring maximum volume is delivered each day via the branches 7 LGV vehicles (6 x 26-ton HIAB vehicles and 1 x 4-ton flatbed vehicle) in to a designated delivery area. Liaising with our sales teams to ensure all targets and deliveries are met, scheduling of work is accurate, up to date and achievable whilst also monitoring of vehicle gross weights is undertaken and compliant.

Ensure that vehicle management, including liaison with the Company Transport Manager to arrange the servicing and repair of vehicles, ensuring that all administrative tasks associated with the operation are completed to the required standard as well as assisting with daily operational problems.

CANDIDATE: The successful candidate must have proven experience of manually planning loads, along with knowledge of the local area and transport legislation. The ability to plan, organise and problem solve is essential as well as being resilient and having a can-do attitude.

Knowledge of Transport Planning software, Microsoft Outlook and experience within a builders merchant and good product knowledge on a range of building materials would also be an advantage.

THE PACKAGE: The salary is depending on experience, benefits include 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, annual PRP Bonus, option to buy or sell holidays and life assurance among others.

The normal working week will be Monday to Friday.

INTERVIEW STAGE: All candidates selected for interview will complete a practical assessment before progressing to the interview.
