Full job description
At Mr Fothergills Seeds we are in the business of bringing gardens to life. Known for our exceptional range of seeds, garden products and horticultural expertise with well-known brands such as Fothergill’s, Johnsons, D.T. Brown and Darlac, our products can be found in garden centres, big retailers and direct to consumers through our websites and catalogues. We have a legacy of quality, a loyal customer base and are committed to inspiring and empowering gardeners of all levels.
We are a passionate team with a strong can-do attitude. We show respect to one another and are keen to innovate on our respective areas of expertise. We value agility, understand the journey our business is on and strive to add our unique mark onto that journey. We work hard but don’t forget to have fun. Our company purpose is “Helping Everyone Grow” and we extend that purpose to everything we do.
We’re looking for a passionate and strategic Partnerships Manager too own social media community management and drive purpose-led partnerships for Mr. Fothergill’s brands. You'll be the voice of the brand across social media and play a key role in seeking out and activating partnerships with people and organisations who share our values — bringing our mission of “Helping Everyone Grow” to life.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Lead Social Media Communication
- Actively engage with followers and gardening groups — responding to comments, sharing tips, and sparking genuine conversations.
- Support Senior Brand Manager with the execution of the social media plan.
- Maintain engagement rates inline or above agreed objectives.
2. Seek & Evaluate Community Partnerships
- Identify and build relationships with individuals, organisations, and grassroots projects whose values and purpose align with ours.
- Research and assess potential partners — from local community gardens and schools to content creators and wellbeing initiatives.
- Be a brand ambassador and values gatekeeper — ensuring partnerships feel authentic, inclusive, and meaningful.
- Through the partnership, attract a new cohort of consumers singing up to our database, in line or above target.
3. Execute Plans & Bring Partnerships to Life
- Collaborate cross-functionally to bring partnership ideas into action — whether it’s co-creating content, running a giveaway, sponsoring a community plot, or hosting events.
- Develop project plans, timelines, track the marketing spend, manage overall project deliverables and, finally, evaluate their success.
- Ensure all activations reflect the brand’s voice, values, and goal of making gardening accessible to all.
We are looking for someone who has 2–5 years’ experience in social community engagement, and/ or partnership roles, ideally within consumer or purpose-led brands. You will be skilled in managing digital communication, growing online audiences, and activating meaningful collaborations that align with brand values. To excel in this role you will be a confident communicator, proactive project manager, and a natural relationship-builder with a passion for helping people grow — literally and figuratively. Experience in gardening, sustainability, or wellbeing is a bonus, but genuine curiosity and connection are essential. You will also demonstrate:
- Excellent and prove ability to write engaging, brand-aligned content
- Experience working with influencers or grassroots organisations
- Confident in representing the brand publicly (online and offline)
- Demonstrated ability to turn ideas into actionable campaigns or events.
The world of gardening should be accessible to all and it’s important that our teams reflect the diversity of our customers, ensuring that our products meet everyone’s needs. Therefore, we very much welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates regardless of background, gender, race, religious beliefs, disability, sexual orientation, or age. We’re ‘rooting’ for you!
