Full job description

Roots Allotments is expanding one of its sites in Gloucester, and we're looking for a few casual labourers to help build new allotment patches for summer.

The work
Straightforward outdoor groundwork, mainly raking and spreading compost to prepare new patches. A telehandler handles the heavy lifting, but you'll be on your feet and working outdoors for the full day, so a reasonable level of fitness is needed. No previous experience required — just a willingness to get stuck in.

Details

  • Location: Bentham Fields, Gloucester (best reached by car or bike)
  • Hours: 9am to 5pm, including a paid 30-minute break
  • Pay: £13.00 per hour, paid by bank transfer
  • Building usually on Saturdays but can arise during the week. First come, first served policy applied, so the first 6 people who accept the shift invite will get it!

Please note
This is casual, self-employed work — you'll be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance, and there's no guaranteed ongoing work, so it's ideal alongside other jobs or studies.
