Construction Surveyor

The Conservatory Insulation Company Ltd
Location: Pudsey, Leeds, West Yorkshire, with regional travel across the North
Salary: £35,000–£45,000 per year, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Benefits: Company vehicle, pension

About the Company

The Conservatory Insulation Company is an established and growing home-improvement and residential construction business delivering high-quality projects across the North of England.

Our work includes:

  • Conservatory transformations and upgrades
  • Lightweight tiled conservatory roof systems
  • Windows, doors and glazing
  • SIP-based extensions and home extensions
  • Luxury garden rooms and outdoor living spaces
  • Bespoke residential improvement projects

We are looking for an experienced Construction Surveyor to join our growing team.

This is an important role within the business, responsible for carrying out accurate technical surveys, identifying construction requirements and ensuring projects are properly prepared before they reach site.

We are looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware, organised and confident dealing with homeowners, suppliers, subcontractors and installation teams.

The Role

As Construction Surveyor, you will visit customers at their properties to assess projects, take accurate measurements, identify technical requirements and provide the information needed for the project to be delivered correctly.

You will work closely with head of contracts, sales, office and installation teams to ensure that every project is fully understood and properly prepared before work begins.

A major part of the role will be identifying potential problems before they become problems on site.

Your responsibilities will include: Technical Surveying

  • Carry out accurate technical surveys for conservatory transformations, replacement roofs, extensions, garden rooms, windows, doors and other residential projects.
  • Take detailed measurements, photographs and site information.
  • Assess existing structures and identify potential technical or practical issues.
  • Review contracts, specifications and designs following the sales handover.
  • Identify discrepancies, omissions, risks and additional requirements.
  • Confirm final designs, specifications, materials and installation requirements.
  • Produce clear and accurate survey reports for the office and installation teams.
  • Ensure projects are technically viable before being released to site.

Project Preparation

  • Ordering materials
  • Prepare complete and accurate project packs for installation teams.
  • Identify required materials, specialist trades, plant and equipment.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors where required.
  • Review drawings and structural information.
  • Coordinate building-control and regulatory requirements where applicable.
  • Ensure all technical information is available before installation.
  • Carry out pre-start checks.
  • Communicate preparation requirements and project expectations clearly to customers.

Site & Project Support

Although this is primarily a surveying role, you will also provide technical support throughout projects.

  • Attend sites where required to resolve technical queries.
  • Support site managers, installers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor workmanship and technical compliance at key stages.
  • Deal with unexpected site conditions and provide practical solutions.
  • Manage and document variations.
  • Maintain accurate project records and photographs.
  • Assist with snagging and completion inspections.
  • Ensure projects are completed to the required standard.
  • Provide feedback to management where improvements are required.

Customer Communication

You will regularly deal directly with homeowners, so excellent communication skills are essential.

You will be expected to:

  • Explain survey findings clearly to customers.
  • Discuss technical requirements and project specifications.
  • Manage customer expectations.
  • Answer technical questions professionally.
  • Explain any necessary changes or variations.
  • Maintain a professional and helpful attitude throughout the project.
  • Represent the company positively at all times.

The Projects

You will work across a wide range of residential construction and home-improvement projects, including:

Conservatory Transformations
Transforming existing conservatories through improved roofing, insulation, glazing and other upgrades.

Extensions
SIP-based and other residential extensions, including structural alterations and associated construction work.

Luxury Garden Rooms
High-quality insulated garden rooms and outdoor living spaces designed for year-round use, including offices, studios, leisure spaces and bespoke residential requirements.

Windows & Doors
Surveying replacement windows, doors, glazing and associated installation requirements.

The variety of work means no two surveys will be exactly the same. You will need to be comfortable assessing existing buildings, different construction methods and individual customer requirements.

About You

We are looking for someone with proven experience in construction surveying, residential construction, technical surveying or project delivery.

You may currently be working as a:

  • Construction Surveyor
  • Building Surveyor
  • Technical Surveyor

  • Garden rooms and outdoor buildings
  • Building regulations and building-control processes
  • Reading technical drawings and structural information
  • Measuring and specifying construction products
  • Ordering materials and coordinating suppliers
  • Managing subcontractors and specialist trades
  • Residential construction projects

  • Customers understand what is happening.
  • Variations are properly documented.
  • Installation errors and unnecessary return visits are reduced.
  • Projects are delivered efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
  • Customers receive a professional experience from survey through to completion.

Ultimately, we want a Construction Surveyor who the business can trust to walk onto a property, understand the project, identify the requirements and say:

“I’ve got this.”

Salary & Package

£35,000–£45,000 per year, depending on experience and level of responsibility.

The final package will reflect the candidate's technical ability, surveying experience and knowledge of residential construction.

The role includes:

  • Company vehicle
  • Pension
  • Full-time, permanent employment
  • Opportunity for progression as the business continues to grow

There is significant opportunity for the right person to develop their role as our construction, extension and luxury garden room divisions continue to expand.
