Full job description

We are a busy independent builders merchant supplying trade and retail customers across the region. We’re looking for a reliable, hard-working Yard Assistant to join our team.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving yard environment. The successful applicant will be physically fit, dependable and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles
  • Picking and preparing orders accurately
  • Handling aggregates, paving, timber and heavy building materials
  • Serving trade and retail customers in the yard
  • Keeping the yard clean, organised and safe
  • Assisting with stock control and deliveries

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has previous experience in a builders merchant or similar yard environment (preferred but not essential)
  • Is physically fit and able to lift heavy materials safely
  • Has a good attitude and strong work ethic
  • Is punctual and reliable
  • Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential)
