We’re Always Aiming High, leading the way and having pride in what we do. Following approval of our 12mppa planning application, Bristol Airport has an unprecedented period of change ahead with capital investment of £400m+. Our Health & Safety team is growing, and we’re looking for a Health & Safety Business Partner to join us on this exciting journey.

Reporting into our Head of Health & Safety, the Health & Safety Business Partner will provide technical health and safety guidance to help reduce risk within designated workstreams and for our business partners. They’ll promote health and safety compliance and positive health and safety culture, conducting monitoring arrangements to ensure the discharge of applicable statutory duties whilst promoting continual improvement to ensure we deliver on our strategic intent of a safe and secure environment.

We’re looking for an experienced Health & Safety professional with a proven track record of working within a health and safety environment; you’ll be experienced in writing risk assessments, COSGG assessments and carrying out safety audits and inspections to a high level.

Interviews will commence on the 21st and 22nd of October 2024.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the end-to-end process for incidents as they are reported, investigating where necessary to determine root cause and providing learning outcomes to prevent recurrence.
  • Collate and analyse OHS data from related activities to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct safety inspections and support with risk assessments to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Work with departments to create and deliver training, coaching, toolbox talks and health and safety presentations to both BRS and business partners as appropriate, to ensure improved health and safety awareness.
  • Co-manage the BRS internal health and safety audit program, including the creation of action plans to monitor and ensure completion of remedial actions to support continual improvement.
  • Write, develop, implement, and improve the health and safety management system, including programmes, policies, and procedures at BRS to ensure our internal customers have an easy to access health and safety support system in place for them.
  • Support with the development and implementation of health and safety infrastructure projects, to grow the effectiveness of the team to our business and stakeholders
  • Work with Bristol Airport development projects to ensure foreseeable risks have been identified and mitigated a far as reasonably practicable and offer pragmatic solutions.
  • Support with the development of health and safety committees and forums, ensuring their efficacy and engagement of stakeholders.
  • Stay fully up to date with current and changing legislation to ensure continued compliance.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • NEBOSH General certificate or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-year experience working in health and safety and capable of writing risk assessments, COSHH assessments, carrying out safety audits and inspections.
  • High level of literary and IT skills including Microsoft 365 e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to create and develop reports and analyse and interpret data.
  • Strong relationship builder, across multiple functions and levels, with ability to communicate well, and manage and influence multiple stakeholders around safety initiatives.
  • Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to juggle multiple challenges and initiatives at any one time, without compromising accuracy or attention to detail.
  • Experience in liaising and coordinating with business partners/stakeholders.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH diploma or equivalent.
  • A positive, and pragmatic can-do attitude with the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
  • The ability to stay calm and solution-focussed under pressure.
  • The ability to recognise and deliver customer-focussed solutions.
  • Some experience of creating and delivering training materials.
