Full job description

Preventt is a fast growing fire safety compliance company specialising in passive fire inspections for clients across the UK. We work with residential property managers, hotel groups, social housing providers and commercial real estate clients to ensure fire door and compartmentation safety through inspections, reporting and digital asset tracking.

As we expand our national footprint, we are looking to strengthen our inspection team with experienced, technically competent Fire Door Inspectors based in Manchester or Liverpool.

This is a field based inspection role focused on delivering high quality, technically robust fire door inspections across a range of residential and commercial properties.

The successful candidate will hold, as a minimum, a Level 3 fire door inspection qualification, bring strong practical experience of inspecting and reporting on fire doors, and be comfortable working independently on site while representing Preventt professionally with clients and residents.

You will be responsible for inspecting fire doors against relevant standards and guidance, capturing accurate data and photographic evidence, and producing clear, compliant reports using Preventt’s digital systems.

  • Carry out detailed fire door inspections across communal and residential settings in line with Preventt inspection standards and relevant guidance.
  • Record findings accurately using digital systems.
  • Produce high‑quality inspection reports that are technically sound, consistent and usable by clients and remedial contractors.
  • Liaise professionally with site contacts, residents, building managers and client representatives while on site.
  • Plan and manage daily site schedules, travel and access requirements to meet project programmes.
  • Follow Preventt RAMS, lone working procedures and health and safety requirements at all times.
  • Handle keys, access fobs and resident bookings responsibly and securely.
  • Provide feedback on recurring issues or trends observed on site to support continuous improvement of Preventt’s services.
  • Participate in internal training, calibration exercises and quality assurance processes to maintain consistent inspection standards.
  • Essential:
  • Minimum Level 3 fire door inspection qualification from a recognised body.
  • Proven experience carrying out fire door inspections in occupied buildings (residential blocks, student accommodation, hotels or similar).
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant fire door standards and guidance (e.g. BS 8214, applicable parts of the Fire Safety Regulations 2022 and related best practice).
  • Based in Manchester or Liverpool, with willingness to travel across the wider region and occasionally further afield.
  • Confident using digital devices and software for data capture, photography and report completion.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, evidence‑based approach.
  • Professional, calm and courteous on site, with strong communication skills when dealing with clients and residents.
  • Comfortable working independently, managing your own time and following set procedures.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience with fire stopping / compartmentation surveys or other passive fire safety inspections.
  • Experience working with property managers, housing associations or large residential portfolios.
  • Full clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
  • High integrity and commitment to doing the right thing, even where that is more difficult or time‑consuming.
  • Proactive, reliable and organised, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Comfortable representing Preventt as the face of the business on site.
  • Willing to learn, share knowledge and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience and qualifications)
  • Company pension
  • Private medical insurance
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Hybrid working with a mix of site work and remote reporting
