General Manager – Hospitality Venue Opening (Spencer Recruitment Client)

Location: Dundee
Salary: Great base salary + achievable bonus + company car

About the Opportunity

Spencer Recruitment is partnering with a well-established hospitality business to recruit a General Manager for the launch of an exciting new venue in Dundee.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a flagship opening, playing a key role in shaping the venue from pre-opening through to launch and long-term success. You'll work closely with senior leadership while building and developing a high-performing team and establishing the venue as a destination within the local community.

The Role

As General Manager, you will take full responsibility for the successful opening and ongoing operation of the venue. You'll be involved from the pre-opening phase, recruiting and developing your team, embedding operational standards, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience from day one.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the successful launch of a new hospitality venue
  • Recruiting, training and developing a high-performing team
  • Driving outstanding customer service and operational excellence
  • Managing all aspects of the venue's commercial performance
  • Taking ownership of labour planning, stock control and cost management
  • Working closely with senior leadership to deliver business objectives
  • Building strong links within the local community to drive awareness and repeat business
  • Creating a positive, engaging culture for both customers and employees

About You

We're looking for an experienced hospitality leader who can combine strong commercial awareness with exceptional people management skills.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a General Manager within a high-volume hospitality environment
  • Strong leadership and coaching ability
  • A customer-first approach
  • Commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and profitability
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • The confidence to take ownership and make decisions
  • Experience leading teams through change or venue openings would be advantageous
