Full job description

Role: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: 36 hours per week

Location: Wombourne – as part of the South Stafford team that covers Cannock, Wolverhampton, Telford

Salary: £24,925.60 to £27,780.63per annum + Essential car user allowance of up to £1,239 per annum

Closing date: 26th May 2025

The Role:

At Wrekin Housing Group we take pride in providing top-notch safe homes that the people of our community so deserve. As a Building Maintenance Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in upholding our standards of excellence.

We are looking for someone who is customer focused with people skills and enjoys working with people who need support. You will be assisting with minor plumbing, carpentry and finishes along with areas of health and safety.

If you don’t have the right level of experience, don’t worry, we will train, coach, and mentor you to become the best version of yourself.

Core responsibilities:

  • Building safety compliance including regular checks for lighting, fire equipment, fire door, water hygiene and conducting risk assessments
  • Minor repairs, maintenance, and decoration such as plastering, decoration, tiling
  • Contractor management
  • Vacant house preparation
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the building and compliance
  • Flexibility to cover other locations as required
  • Availability of own vehicle on site

About you:

  • You will have basic trade skills with general DIY ability
  • Ability to prioritise workloads under pressure
  • Trade background in carpentry/plumbing/electrician/builder or similar
  • Adopts an open and flexible approach to working with others in the team
  • Problem solving skills along with good verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with using computer devices and emails
  • Experience in a similar organisation is desirable
  • Flexibility to cover different locations within Shropshire and Staffordshire
