Maintenance Operative

Nottingham | £30,373 - £31,918 | Permanent | Full Time

Jackson Hogg is supporting a leading provider of accommodation, welfare and plant hire solutions in the search for a Maintenance Operative to join their Nottingham depot.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on individual who enjoys working in a workshop environment. While previous experience in maintenance, refurbishment, joinery, painting, mechanical or basic electrical work would be beneficial, attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn are the most important qualities for this role.

The Role

You'll be responsible for maintaining, refurbishing and preparing accommodation units, welfare vans, vehicles and plant equipment, ensuring they are safe, presentable and ready for customer use.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out maintenance and refurbishment work on accommodation units, welfare vans and vehicles
  • Completing minor repairs and basic joinery tasks
  • Assisting with simple electrical checks and repairs, following training and procedures
  • Preparing, painting and finishing accommodation units, plant equipment and vehicles
  • Identifying and recording customer damage, ensuring repair documentation is completed accurately
  • Cleaning units and preparing furniture and equipment prior to dispatch
  • Supporting the movement, loading and unloading of equipment around the depot
  • Liaising with stores to maintain stock levels of materials and consumables
  • Collecting and delivering equipment to customer sites and suppliers when required
  • Maintaining workshop records and ensuring equipment is stored and maintained correctly
  • Working safely and contributing to a tidy, organised depot environment

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with candidates from backgrounds such as:

  • Workshop, depot or maintenance environments
  • Accommodation, modular building or welfare unit refurbishment
  • Joinery, decorating, painting or general building maintenance
  • Plant, construction, vehicle or hire industry operations
  • Mechanical assembly, fitting or basic electrical work
  • Any hands-on role where you've demonstrated a strong work ethic and practical skills

You will also have:

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good practical problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A commitment to health and safety
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A full UK driving licence

A forklift licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
