We are looking for a fulltime experienced chef to join our busy team

We would love to hear from caring and compassionate chefs who are not only passionate about cooking delicious, fresh, seasonal meals, but also developing and team who will be passionate about delivering an exceptional food and dining experience for our guests.

JD Young is an independent Hotel and Restaurant set in the town of Harleston, an ancient market town in the heart of the Waveney valley. Harleston is full of historic buildings, one of which is JD Young’s itself, having been an Inn for well over 100 years. JD Young prides itself on delivering high standards of food, rooms, and customer service within a beautiful comfortable atmosphere to dine, drink and sleep.

The hotel has 11 En-suite Bedrooms, Restaurant, Bar and an external space that can cater for 120 inside and another 48 guests outside.

As an Experienced Chef at JD Young you will:

  • Be organised and experienced
  • Become an integral part of our kitchen team
  • Be Flexible, Willing and Able to Work evenings and weekends
  • Have Strong knowledge of nutrition and experience of catering for individuals with different dietary requirements
  • Have very good communication skills, and be a great team player
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Work 45 hours per week
  • Live within a 30 Mile radius of us

Job Duties:

  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • The desire to develop menus and drive the business forward in the long term.
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain a clean working station whilst adhering to health & safety standards
  • Assist with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment
  • Restock items as needed throughout the shift
  • Ensure that all standards of hygiene are maintained in all food preparation areas - food stores, refrigerators, deep freezers and all equipment is properly maintained and cleaned
