Job Title: Business Development Officer

Location: Warrington
Reports to: Director / Head of Partnerships

About the Role

The Business Development Officer is responsible for driving growth by building strong relationships with schools, local authorities, and other stakeholders to promote the company’s alternative provision services. The role focuses on increasing student referrals, expanding partnerships, and supporting the organisation’s strategic development.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Growth & Partnerships

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with schools, academies, and local authorities
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers (e.g., Headteachers, SENCOs, inclusion leads)
  • Promote the organisation’s alternative provision offer to potential partners
  • Attend networking events, education forums, and stakeholder meetings

Referral & Placement Development

  • Increase student referrals and placements across all provisions
  • Manage the enquiry and onboarding process for new referrals
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure placements meet student needs

Market Awareness & Strategy

  • Monitor trends in alternative provision, SEND, and education policy in the UK
  • Identify gaps in local provision and recommend new services or locations
  • Support the development and implementation of business development strategies

Marketing & Promotion

  • Collaborate with marketing to create promotional materials and campaigns
  • Represent the organisation at events, conferences, and school visits
  • Contribute to online presence (website, social media, case studies)

Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of leads, contacts, and partnerships (CRM systems)
  • Track performance against targets (referrals, revenue, partnerships)
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership

Person SpecificationEssential

  • Experience in business development, sales, or partnerships (education sector desirable)
  • Strong understanding of alternative provision, SEND, or safeguarding frameworks
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a pipeline of opportunities
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills

Desirable

  • Experience working with local authorities or schools
  • Knowledge of funding models for alternative provision
