Full job description

ASD Build is a growing SME contractor delivering complex fire remediation and façade projects across the UK.

We are currently looking for a hands-on Quality & Fire Compliance Supervisor / Assistant Project Manager to join our team on a major fire remediation project at Copper Quarter in Swansea.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a trade or construction background who is looking to progress into quality, compliance and project management. You will work closely with the Senior Project Manager and site team, taking responsibility for quality and fire compliance while also assisting with the day-to-day management and coordination of the project.

The Role

The role will combine quality and fire compliance supervision with Assistant Project Manager responsibilities, helping ensure works are delivered safely, correctly, on programme and in accordance with the approved design.

Quality & Fire Compliance

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting the installation of cavity barriers, fire stopping, cladding and associated façade works
  • Ensuring works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and manufacturers' requirements
  • Carrying out pre-surveys and inspections of existing buildings with the Site Manager
  • Photographing and recording works to maintain clear and accurate compliance records
  • Identifying defects or non-compliant works and ensuring corrective actions are completed
  • Assisting with inspection and test plans, quality records and project handover information
  • Working closely with subcontractors to maintain high standards of workmanship
  • Supporting the project team in meeting fire safety and Building Safety Act requirements

Assistant Project Management

Alongside the quality role, you will support the Senior Project Manager with the day-to-day delivery of the project, including:

  • Assisting with the coordination and management of subcontractors
  • Monitoring progress against the construction programme
  • Helping plan upcoming works, labour and material requirements
  • Attending and contributing to site and subcontractor meetings
  • Reviewing drawings and helping resolve site queries
  • Liaising with the Site Manager, Senior Project Manager, design team and subcontractors
  • Monitoring outstanding actions and ensuring they are closed out
  • Assisting with reporting on progress, quality and project risks
  • Helping coordinate works between different trades and work areas
  • Supporting general project and site activities where required

As an SME, we are looking for someone who is practical, proactive and willing to get involved rather than someone who sees their responsibilities as limited to a specific job title.

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • A trade or construction background – ideally carpentry, cladding, façades or similar
  • Good practical knowledge of construction and site operations
  • The ability to read drawings and understand construction details
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
  • Good communication skills and confidence dealing with subcontractors
  • A practical approach to identifying and resolving problems
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • An interest in developing their career in project management, quality and fire compliance
  • A positive attitude and willingness to be part of a small, hands-on project team

Previous experience of fire remediation, façade works, cavity barriers or fire stopping would be advantageous, but we are equally interested in candidates with strong construction experience and the right attitude who are keen to develop in this area.

Formal qualifications are desirable but not essential – practical experience, attitude and the ability to learn are equally important.

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Free parking
  • On-site parking

Licence/Certification:

  • CSCS (required)
