Full job description

Building Surveyor

Godstone, covering sites across the South East
£55,000-£70,000 per year

Our client is an established and growing refurbishment specialist working across the South East. They combine construction and joinery expertise to refurbish pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and other commercial properties.

They're looking for a Building Surveyor to visit sites, assess small works and planned projects, and prepare practical quotes using schedules of rates. You'll work with clients and their representatives, coordinate with trades and suppliers, and help keep work on programme and within budget.

The role

  • Survey sites, record findings and prepare clear reports.
  • Price small works and planned projects, including labour, materials and subcontractors.
  • Use schedules of rates and client portals to prepare quotes and tenders.
  • Prepare work programmes and schedules for clients.
  • Coordinate trades, order materials and keep clients updated.
  • Track costs and update quotes for variations and additional work.
  • Meet clients, surveyors and agents on site, and report progress to the Managing Director.
  • Support health and safety planning, final accounts and invoicing.

About you

You'll have experience surveying buildings and pricing repair, maintenance, refurbishment or small construction works. Schedule-of-rates experience is useful, as is a background in hospitality and leisure environments such as pubs, bars, restaurants or hotels.

You'll also bring:

  • A practical understanding of building regulations and fire safety.
  • Good communication and organisation, with the ability to manage several live jobs.
  • Confidence using Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • AutoCAD experience; two years or more is preferred.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel across the South East.

A degree, surveying qualification, or RICS or CIOB membership would be welcome, but isn't essential. Relevant hands-on experience is what matters.

Package

  • £55,000-£70,000, depending on experience.
  • Company pool vehicle and fuel card, mobile phone and IT equipment.
  • Discretionary annual bonus and company pension.
  • 28 days' holiday, including bank holidays.
  • Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm; occasional overtime during busy periods.
