SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week

Location: Nationwide across the UK – As there will be a travel requirement across our network, we are flexible with the location however your base location will be your closest site working in line with our hybrid working policy.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As our Warehouse Solution Design Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of transforming our M&S warehousing network — designing smart, scalable, and cost-effective solutions that power operational excellence. Blending deep operational insight, with sharp analytical thinking and bold innovation, you’ll create high-impact strategies that elevate performance, enhance customer service, and drive efficiency across the business.

In this pivotal role, you’ll confidently balance cost, service, scalability, and risk — partnering closely with central and operational teams to turn big ideas into measurable results that directly align to our business goals. Your role will include:

  • Working across the network you will stress test current working practices and exercise creativity and innovation in resolving issues, providing practical and analytical justification to enable effective delivery of warehousing & distribution improvement projects.
  • Defining solution options and recommending preferred approaches for warehouse design and improvement initiative, including cost models and return of investment analyses for proposed designs and technologies, evaluating and recommending approaches including cost, service and scalability.
  • Analyse of current operations, workflows, and data to identify efficiency opportunities including reducing time wasted and unnecessary cost within the business process.
  • Model and simulate warehouse operations to test throughput, labour productivity, and space utilisation.
  • Oversee design documentation, proposal development, and approval processes.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure competitive and innovative solutions.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A strong background in industrial engineering and time study.
  • Highly adaptable with a passion for innovation and solution design.
  • Previous experience, and the willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, trends and best practices in logistics and warehouse management.
  • Proven experience in applying a level of creativity and innovation when applying new solutions or technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of logistics operations, supply chain solutions and industry trends.
  • At the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, commercial awareness and financial modelling ability.
