Hourly Rate: £15.05 to £16.91 per hour
Contract Type: Variable hours | Approximately 9 hours per week

Variable Hours
This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. We’ll provide an approximate number of hours you may asked to work, however there is no obligation for work to be offered, and there’s no obligation for you to accept the work offered.
The opportunity
As our Achievement Mentor in the Digital and Creative Industries Department, you will play a vital role in supporting our students to achieve their best in GCSE maths. Working closely with teaching staff, you will mentor small groups of up to six students, helping them make progress in their vocational and/or academic qualifications. Your focus will be on using diagnostic tools, innovative learning strategies, and targeted interventions to guide our students towards success.
You’ll lead small group sessions designed to enhance students' skills in maths while fostering their broader abilities to succeed as learners. By delivering high-quality, tailored support, you’ll also ensure our students stay on track and meet their goals. Collaboration with curriculum teams will be essential as you develop informed strategies and resources to provide impactful interventions.
You will also inspire and motivate our learners through engaging and effective teaching methods, using both traditional and online tools. Accurate record-keeping is also a key part of the role, as you’ll need to maintain timely registers, monitor student progress, and report on attendance and interventions.

About you
We are looking for an Achievement Mentor who is passionate about student success and skilled at helping learners overcome challenges and achieve their potential. Your role will focus on supporting students in GCSE maths, enabling them to build confidence and improve their skills through tailored interventions.
To succeed in this role, you will need strong subject knowledge and expertise in mentoring small groups of students. You should be adept at using diagnostic tools to identify areas for improvement and delivering targeted support that meets individual needs. Your ability to communicate effectively and engage learners, both in person and online, will be essential.
You will also bring strong organisational skills, maintaining accurate records of attendance and progress to ensure students stay on track. Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with teaching staff to align your mentoring with curriculum objectives. A positive and motivational approach is vital, helping students stay focused and achieve their goals.
Your background should include qualifications or experience in maths or a related field, as well as prior experience in teaching or mentoring. Familiarity with digital tools and online learning platforms is also important.
