Full job description
ABOUT US
Ashco is an established commercial building, refurbishment, fit-out and maintenance contractor based near Ely. Since 2013 we’ve delivered projects across Cambridgeshire, London and East Anglia, backed by an in-house multi-trade team and QS capability. We’re CHAS, SafeContractor and SSIP accredited and ISO 9001 certified, and we take pride in quality work, safe sites and looking after our people.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a reliable, skilled General Builder to join our site team. You’ll work on a varied mix of commercial refurbishment, fit-out and maintenance projects, from strip-outs and partitions to general repairs and finishing works. No two weeks are the same.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out a broad range of building work to a high standard, including stud and plasterboard partitions, ceilings, carpentry, first and second fix, minor structural and masonry works, and general repairs
- Read and work from drawings, specifications and instructions from the Site Manager
- Strip out and prepare existing spaces for refurbishment
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment at all times
- Work safely, following RAMS, site rules and health and safety procedures
- Work well alongside other trades and our wider team, and represent Ashco professionally in front of clients
- Report progress, issues and material requirements to the Site Manager
ABOUT YOU
- Proven experience as a General Builder or multi-skilled builder, ideally in commercial or refurbishment environments
- Strong all-round building skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- A full UK driving licence is desirable
- Your own hand tools
- A good eye for quality and finish
- Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious, with a positive attitude
- Additional trade qualifications (e.g. NVQ in carpentry or bricklaying) are an advantage but not essential
WHAT WE OFFER
- Salary dependent on experience
- 28 days holiday and private healthcare
- Long-term, varied work with an established and growing contractor
- Opportunities for training and development
