Overview

Are you a natural leader with a strong background in vehicle repair and workshop operations? We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Controller / Manager to join our well-established and busy independent Mercedes service and repair garage.

We offer a competitive salary, overtime extra and bonuses.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified vehicle technician, possess a hands-on approach to managing a team. This role requires the ability to lead by example, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely while maintaining high standards of quality.

The Workshop Manager will be responsible for diary management, managing resources, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily workshop operations, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and to specification.
  • Manage and train workshop staff
  • Managing a busy diary alongside your four colleagues on reception
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment, ensuring all tools and machinery are in good working order.
  • Carry out quality control checks on our work and road testing of vehicles ensuring safety as paramount.
  • Ensure parts have been ordered and arrived in time for customer appointments.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client ebquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Liase with customers and service advisors regarding repair progress and completion times.
  • Allocate work efficiently to technicians based on skill and availability
  • Maintain accurate records of workshop activities, including inventory management and equipment repairs.
  • Assist with diagnostics and hands on technical work when needed.

You’ll be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the workshop, ensuring that productivity and quality standards are maintained, jobs are completed on time, and technicians are supported and managed effectively.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical knowledge.
  • Experience in vehicle diagnosis a strong advantage.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on client satisfaction.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
