Candour Talent Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Building Fabric Technician to join our well-established client based in the Bristol area.
This role presents a unique chance to become a part of a dedicated team within a well-established company.
Job Description:
The Building Fabric Technician is responsible for carrying out reactive and proactive maintenance tasks to support one of the largest retail contracts. Duties include repair works from roof to ground level, ensuring compliance with service level agreements and maintaining high-quality standards. The role also involves the assessment of work to assist in accurate estimating and the preparation of a bill of materials. The technician will follow a schedule of planned and reactive maintenance to ensure tasks are completed on time, enhancing the customer relationship through quality workmanship.
Main Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes
- Perform Various Repair and Maintenance Works
- Carry out repairs across a range of trades, working safely, neatly, and accurately.
- Execute planned and reactive maintenance activities including:

- Fabric maintenance, groundwork, and substructure repairs.
- Car park, pavement, and delivery bay surfacing, including manhole covers, speed devices, and white lining.
- Internal and external protection (walls, floors, cladding, refrigeration cabinets, bollards, etc.)
- Roofs, windows (excluding glazing), doors, and canopies.
- Fencing, manual gates, and barriers.
- Flooring finishes (excluding coverings), skirting, and duct covers.
- General carpentry and metalworking repairs.
- Expected Outcome: Compliance with SLAs, task completion, high customer satisfaction, safe working environments, and adherence to customer site policies.
- Assist in the Quotation Process
- Conduct accurate assessments of work requirements, providing clear information for quotation creation.
- Expected Outcome: Compliance with SLA timeframes (quotations within 72 hours), accurate cost assumptions, and reduced site visits by managers.
- Documentation of Work
- Take photographs and provide a narrative before and after work completion, including materials used.
- Expected Outcome: Accurate project documentation, customer satisfaction with completed work, and well-maintained van stock.
- Management of Tools, Materials, and Equipment
- Ensure all tools, materials, and equipment are managed daily to execute tasks safely and efficiently.
- Expected Outcome: High first-time fix rates, customer satisfaction, and maximized tool/equipment lifespan.
- Customer Interaction
- Maintain professional and clear communication with customers to ensure their needs are understood and met.
- Expected Outcome: Delivery of excellent customer service and a positive personal reputation in line with business values.
Functional Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in performing work across multiple trades to a high standard.
- Ability to accurately estimate construction work.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Strong communication skills.

Backup Coverage
- This position may be covered by another qualified technician in case of absence, and the job holder may deputise for other similar roles within the division.
- Will be expected to cover an on-call rota on a 1 week in 4 basis which comes with a generous remuneration package along with the possibility of overtime.
