Work with us at Riverford, and join a thriving employee-owned business

  • Be part of a supportive, down-to-earth and solutions driven Maintenance team
  • Beyond the Veg Box - At Riverford, our passion for organic vegetables is unmatched. We're not just about delivering veg boxes; we're dedicated to sustainable farming and community building. As a part of our team, you become a co-owner, sharing in our successes and contributing to a mission that goes beyond profit. We aim to make Riverford a fulfilling place to work, where our co-owners feel valued.
  • Our HQ at Wash Farm in Devon is a beautiful place to work, surrounded by good people, good food, and plenty of fresh air. As a co-owner, you'll benefit from 33 days holiday (pro rata, including bank holidays), an ethical & generous company pension scheme, and an annual profit share, where 10% of all profits are split equally among co-owners. We also offer heavily discounted organic breakfasts and lunches, free organic fruit and veg to take home and free parking.
  • Grow with Riverford - Take the next step in your personal and professional journey with training tailored to help you grow and achieve your goals.

As our Facilities Maintenance Technician, you'll help shape Riverford's future.

You'll join our Engineering and Facilities team in a varied, hands-on maintenance role, helping to keep our co-owners safe and our sites running effectively. Using skills across carpentry and construction, forestry and grounds maintenance, masonry and building works, plumbing and heating, fabrication and welding, you'll handle everything from routine repairs to larger site-improvement projects.
You'll work independently and as part of the wider team, indoors and outdoors, occasionally at height and on physically demanding tasks. Travel between sites will be required and you'll need a full UK driving licence.
You'll work alongside our Workshop, Cleaning and Engineering teams to support safe, reliable operations across Riverford.

Salary: £14.85 + 6% for on-call duties

Location - Based at Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU.

Hours - 39 hours a week usually Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.30 pm (finish at 15:30 on Friday). You will need to be flexible and able to work some weekends and be on call.

What You'll Bring…

  • A strong understanding of health and safety legislation, risk assessment processes and safe systems of work, with a proactive approach to identifying and reducing risk.
  • Broad experience of planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Competence with hand tools, power tools and site equipment.
  • Confidence using IT systems to maintain accurate records and work orders.

What We're Looking For…

  • Be practical, proactive and solutions focused.
  • Take pride in delivering high-quality work and seeing tasks through.
  • Work safely, reliably and independently, using good judgement.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and respond calmly to urgent situations.
  • Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Be a supportive team player who shares knowledge and treats Riverford's people, sites and resources with respect.
  • Share Riverford's values and look for better, more sustainable ways of working.
