Job description

About Axis

Axis, part of Axis CLC, is a trusted property services specialist delivering responsive repairs, planned works, refurbishments and voids services. We employ more than 1,500 people and support over 250 clients across London and the Southeast.

Backed by over 110 years of combined experience across the Axis CLC group, we help keep residents safe, properties well maintained and clients fully compliant.

The Role

We are recruiting experienced and versatile Multi Traders with a strong background in groundworks and general building to support our long-term partnership with the Optivo Maintenance Direct contract, covering Sittingbourne and the surrounding areas.

We are particularly interested in candidates whose main trade is groundworks, but who also possess the practical skills and experience to undertake a wide variety of multi-trade repairs and maintenance tasks.

The successful candidates will be confident carrying out paving, drainage, concrete repairs, external building works and general property maintenance across occupied residential properties and communal areas.

This is a varied, hands-on role requiring someone who can turn their hand to different trades, diagnose problems and deliver effective, high-quality repairs with minimal supervision.

You'll be supported by modern digital systems that keep work flowing efficiently and give you everything you need to deliver a first-class service.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake a wide range of groundworks, external building repairs and general property maintenance.

  • Carry out paving repairs and installations, including concrete slabs, block paving, pathways, patios and associated surfaces.

  • Undertake concrete works, including repairs to steps, paths, hard standings and other external areas.

  • Diagnose and repair drainage defects, including minor underground drainage repairs, gullies, channels and associated pipework.

  • Complete brickwork, blockwork, repointing, rendering and general masonry repairs.

  • Undertake repairs to boundary walls, fencing, gates and other external property features.

  • Carry out minor excavation, reinstatement and ground preparation works where required.

  • Complete minor carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating repairs as necessary.

  • Undertake a broad range of reactive maintenance and general building repairs beyond their primary trade.

  • Identify faults and provide practical, cost-effective repair solutions.

  • Work independently and efficiently, ensuring repairs are completed safely and to a high standard.

  • Maintain excellent customer service when working in occupied properties.

  • Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety, quality and company standards.

About You

  • Strong practical experience in groundworks and general external building repairs is essential.

  • Ideally qualified or time-served in groundworks or general building, with proven practical experience.

  • Competent in paving, concrete works, drainage repairs and general ground preparation.

  • Good working knowledge of brickwork, pointing, rendering and external property maintenance.

  • Experience undertaking repairs to pathways, steps, patios, fencing and boundary walls.

  • Must be versatile and willing to undertake a range of multi-trade repairs beyond their primary trade.

  • Practical experience in additional trades such as carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling or decorating.

  • Ability to diagnose building defects and complete effective repairs independently.

  • Experience working in occupied and tenanted residential properties.

  • Familiar with PDA usage and digital job management systems.

  • NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in a relevant trade, or equivalent demonstrable trade experience.

  • Clean, valid UK driving licence.

  • DBS check (or willingness to undertake).

  • Eligible to work in the UK (proof required).

  • Professional, reliable and customer-focused approach.

What We Offer

  • Salary up to £40,660 depending upon experience.

  • Company vehicle and fuel card (business use).

  • Pension and life assurance.

  • 23 days' holiday + bank holidays.

  • Perkbox (free coffees, cinema tickets, discounts & more).

  • 1 paid volunteer day each year.

  • £2,000 refer-a-friend bonus after the referee passes probation.

  • Opportunities for development and progression across Axis CLC.
