Job Title: Engineering Draft Person

Salary: £35,000 depending on experience
Location: Lytham
Shift: 08:00 till 17:00 Monday to Friday

What you’ll be doing:

The Draftsperson is responsible for the 3D modelling and 2D technical drawings of Global Energy Systems products and processes. Ensuring that Global Energy Systems documents meet required standards. With ambition for career progression in Design engineering. The Draftsperson shall actively collaborate and demonstrate a passion for expanding their engineering know-how. This role offers a unique growth opportunity for those keen to progress in the field of Design engineering of HVAC systems in the Building and Construction industry.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with others to gather product and structural requirements and design constraints. Sketching-out concepts on paper for review before CAD.
  • Solid modelling in 3D, preparing sheet metal parts and 2D piping/cabling routes using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD based on project requirements.
  • Reads product datasheets to gather critical safety information to be presented in Global Energy Systems documentation. Extracts dimensional information for tolerance analysis.
  • Records, publishes, distributes, and maintains 2D assembly, part, fabrication drawings, bill of materials and other technical documents such as wiring and P&ID diagrams.
  • Conscientious with attention to detail, inputs and maintains meta-data properties for search optimisation, automation, and BIM deployment.
  • Adjusts and revises documents, receptive to feedback from team members.
  • Develops, maintains, and updates a library of design and drafting standards including BS 8888, BS EN 22768-1, BS EN ISO 7010, BS ISO 7000, EN 60617 and ISO 19650. Ensuring all documentation adheres to company and industry good practices including MCS, IEC 60335-2-40 and BS EN 378-2 quality processes.
  • Works with Autodesk Vault to ensure part numbering, design history and revisions are maintained in an organised manner.
  • Attends project meetings to provide input on product design, modifications, and challenges.
  • Maintains a clear and organised filing system for all documents and revisions.
  • Stays updated with the latest versions and features of Autodesk Inventor, Vault, AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Goods-in and ‘first-off’ acceptance checking of parts that have been produced to a new Global Energy systems design.
  • Demonstrates eagerness to acquire new skills and knowledge essential for a Design engineer role such as engineering calculations, supplier compliance checks, cost, and quality optimisation activities.
  • Assists in training junior team members on drafting best practices.

Skills and experience:

  • Technical diploma or degree in Drafting, Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience operating professionally in an engineering context with HVAC and / or sheet metal experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor with a portfolio of completed technical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Knowledge of engineering terminology, methodologies, and good practice.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills for effective collaboration with engineers and other team members.
  • Clear ambition and commitment to progressing towards a Design engineer role within the company.
