About Us

Founded by foster carers in 1997 and still run by many of the original team, we continue to work in partnership with local authorities, in a close established partnership.

For over 25 years we have retained our independence, our integrity and our commitment to the children and their families. We are deeply proud of the outcomes achieved by our foster carers and members of staff.

Everyone working for and with us shares a common goal; to improve the life chances of those children we look after. We consistently focus on the needs of our foster carers and their families so that in turn, they can meet the needs of the children and young people they care for. Our foster carers involvement is an important part of this process, enabling us to work collaboratively together. We want to create a legacy that we can all be proud of.

The core of our service is the provision of foster placements with skilled, experienced, and trained carers. We believe that children should have the opportunity to live in a family where their needs are met. We want our placements to work and therefore put in considerable support to ensure that this happens.

Requirements

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Supervising Social Worker, who is enthusiastic, committed and has an appreciation of the role of the Foster Parent and their skills.

We need you to reflect our high standards in everything you do. Experience of working with and supporting fostering families is desirable, but it is more important that you share our vision of fostering changing lives.

We expect you to build professional and reflective relationships with foster carers, working in a collaborative and reflective manner. You will play a crucial role in promoting the well-being and development of children and young people.

Because we believe that building these relationships are vital, we will not expect you to contribute to recruitment responsibilities, holding foster carers annual reviews or completing Form F assessments.

Your case load will be capped at 12 households, and you will be part of a small independent mutually supportive team.

This is a demanding position which requires you to work on your own initiative but to also be a part of a close supportive team.

Other key requirements include:

  • A professional qualification in Social Work.
  • A knowledge of current government Policy in relation to children and families
  • ability to provide a high standard of practice/service.
  • A belief in the positive impact of good foster care
  • Ability to produce comprehensive, detailed reports and comprehensive case records.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative, sharing workloads as necessary to deliver to deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a reflective manner with foster carers and actively participate in regular practice discussions.
  • A full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regular meaningful supervision to allocated foster parents, enabling, and monitoring their practice and ensuring their compliance with regulatory standards.
  • To work in partnership with children, young people and foster parents, Local Authority colleagues and other professionals.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS Check.

Homefinding and Fostering is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from all suitably qualified and eligible candidates.

Homefinding is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
