Job Summary:

Fire Extinguisher Engineer

Salary: £32,000 – £37,000 basic, depending on experience
Plus overtime at 1.5x, including travel time
Company vehicle, fuel card, laptop, phone and tools provided

Lantern Fire & Security Ltd is continuing to grow, and we are looking for a Fire Extinguisher Engineer to join our team.

This role is mainly focused on the servicing, maintenance, installation and remedial works of portable fire extinguishers and associated fire safety equipment. Experience with fire alarm systems, emergency lighting or security systems would be an advantage, but it is not essential.

If you are a good extinguisher engineer with the right attitude, we can support and upskill you further. We are happy to invest in people who are keen to learn and want to build a long-term career in the fire and security industry.

We look after a wide range of commercial clients, including local authorities, healthcare sites, education, retail, commercial buildings and national contracts. The work is varied, the team is supportive, and there are genuine opportunities to progress within the business.

The role

You will be carrying out servicing, maintenance, installation and remedial works on portable fire extinguishers and associated fire safety equipment.

Your day-to-day work will include:

Servicing and maintaining portable fire extinguishers in line with BS 5306
Installing and commissioning fire extinguishers and related equipment
Identifying defects, damage or non-compliance issues
Completing minor remedial works and replacements where required
Ensuring equipment is correctly labelled, accessible and compliant
Completing service reports, certificates and job sheets accurately
Advising clients in a professional and helpful way
Working safely and following company procedures
Managing your own workload and daily schedule
Taking part in the on-call rota when required

Fire alarm, emergency lighting or security system experience would be useful, and there may be opportunities to develop in these areas for the right person.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone reliable, professional and practical, with a good attitude and pride in their work.

Ideally, you will have:

Experience servicing portable fire extinguishers
Knowledge of BS 5306
A full UK driving licence
Good customer service skills
Good attention to detail when completing reports
The ability to work independently and manage your own time
Basic IT skills for completing electronic job sheets
A willingness to learn and develop further

Fire extinguisher servicing qualifications, BAFE training or similar would be preferred, but we are also happy to speak to experienced engineers who are looking to develop further.

What you will receive

£32,000 – £37,000 basic salary, depending on experience
Overtime paid at 1.5x, including travel time
Standard working hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm
No domestic callouts
Company estate car or van, depending on role/area
Fuel card
Laptop and mobile phone
Tools and equipment provided
23 days holiday plus bank holidays
Holiday buy-back scheme
Friday lunch allowance
Annual eye test
Access to a wellness support programme
Further training and upskilling opportunities
Real opportunities for progression

Why join Lantern?

We are a well-established fire and security company with a strong reputation and a growing national client base. We have recently secured several important new contracts and are actively strengthening our team.

We are not looking for someone to just be a number. We want people who take pride in their work, want to be part of a good team, and are keen to develop.

If you are an experienced Fire Extinguisher Engineer, or you have extinguisher experience and want the chance to learn more across fire and security, we would be very happy to hear from you.

Apply today and we will be in touch for an informal conversation.

Pay: £32,000.00-£37,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company car
  • Health & wellbeing programme
