Full job description

We are looking to recruit a skilled hands on Assistant Maintenance Manager to join our Facilities Manager in maintaining the Hotel. This person needs to be able to confidently action all functions within the maintenance department, working closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure the property is maintained to an exceptional standard. The role ensures full compliance with Health & Safety regulations, managing any contractors on site working on improvement projects and controlling maintenance expenditure whilst undertaking the day to day maintenance jobs to ensure happy guests and a working building. The Assistant Maintenance Manager will bring substantial hotel experience and a strong operational understanding, with the ability to anticipate and respond to the varying needs of different departments, as well as the diverse challenges of daily operations. This is a hands on role leading from the front.

Tasks will include painting to a high standard, general repair jobs, plumbing, electrics, maintaining the grounds and spa pool, PAT testing, and many more jobs. You need to be willing to put your hand to anything.

What we are looking for:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing Health & Safety & FLS at work for the whole hotel
  • Hands on role working in a team of 3 managing and undertaking all repair tasks accordingly alongside the maintaining of the outside appearance of the building
  • Problem solving on fixing equipment issues in house through all round experience
  • Manage the preventative maintenance plans with Facilities Manager and ensure systems and services are maintained
  • Pool plant management experience required
  • Understanding of air con and boiler systems
  • Daily management of contractors on site
  • To be involved in the management of all capex expenditure projects and refurbishments or new installations
  • Promote good communication between departments to ensure issues are acted upon in a timely manner
  • Maintain appropriate standards of conduct, hygiene, uniforms and appearance of all departmental employees
  • Work closely with departmental heads to ensure all areas are working and up to standard for our guest and our teams.
  • Management of Navitas H&S platform ensuring all departments risk assessments and accident reporting is up to date and the building is compliant.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to key security procedures
  • Management of the Fire system

  • Experience in electrics, plumbing, painting & decorating and general maintenance to a high standard
  • Previous experience of working as an Assistant Maintenance Manager a hotel environment desirable
