Full job description

About Mabilla Energy & Metals Ltd

Mabilla Energy & Metals Ltd (Company No. 08181942) is a UK company operating two growing business streams: the international trade of gold and precious metals between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and professional energy consultancy led by our Director, a chartered energy professional with over twenty years' experience across NEPA/PHCN, the UK's National Grid, and Siemens. We are based at North Westgate House, Harlow, Essex.

The role

Embedded in our trading operations, you will provide the analysis behind our gold and precious-metals trade: market analysis, transaction viability, supplier and counterparty due diligence, currency and margin modelling on Nigeria-to-UK trades, and management reporting for the Director.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyse trends in global precious metals markets (gold, silver, platinum) and energy commodities to support buying, selling, and hedging decisions.
  • Conduct financial and operational analysis of proposed transactions: margin calculations, counterparty risk assessments, and currency exposure on cross-border trades.
  • Carry out supplier and counterparty due diligence, including assessment against LBMA responsible-sourcing standards and UK AML requirements.
  • Prepare business cases and feasibility studies for new consultancy engagements.
  • Map business processes and identify inefficiencies in trading workflow, procurement cycle, and client onboarding.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly trading performance reports for Director review.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK and international regulatory requirements affecting metals trading.

What we are looking for (essential)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in business analysis, trading support, or commodities advisory work.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, or equivalent).
  • Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of UK financial regulation and AML compliance as applied to commodities businesses.

Desirable

  • Master's degree or professional qualification (CFA, CISI, or equivalent).
  • Direct experience of precious metals, commodities markets, or UK–Africa trade corridors.
  • Experience with KYC/KYB due diligence processes.

Salary and sponsorship

£36,000 – £50,200 per year, depending on experience and circumstances. Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates, subject to Home Office requirements. Applications are welcome from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of nationality or background; all applications are assessed against the same criteria.

How to apply

Apply via Indeed with an up-to-date CV. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a structured interview. We are an equal opportunities employer.
