Why Greencore?
Greencore is one of the UK's leading manufacturers of convenience food, with over 100 years of experience and a simple purpose: to make every day taste better.
Every day, our food reaches millions of consumers through the UK's major retailers and foodservice providers. With over 28,000 colleagues across 36 manufacturing sites and 21 distribution depots in the UK and US, we're investing in the talent, expertise and capabilities that will help shape our next century of success.
We're already home to some of the best talent in the industry. From operations, manufacturing and engineering to technical, commercial and central functions, our colleagues have the opportunity to learn from each other, develop their skills and build rewarding careers in a business where they can make a real impact.
Many of our leaders and specialists started their careers with Greencore - developing future talent is an important part of how we continue to grow and succeed as a business. That’s why our graduate, undergraduate and apprenticeship programmes are so important, giving talented young people the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn from experienced colleagues and take the first steps towards a rewarding career with us.
What you’ll be doing
This placement offers ample opportunities to develop your passion for food and gain invaluable insight into the food industry. You will play an active role in the relationship between Greencore as a supplier and major UK retailers. Working in Sales at Greencore, you will gain skills in data management and analysis, commercial systems and processes, category management and sales.
You will also build working relationships and be exposed to many different areas of business including development, finance, operations and supply chain. This experience will enable you to gain a deep understanding of the complexities of food manufacturing and supply.
Your time at Greencore will enhance your academic learning and equip you to either return to the business or enter the wider food industry with a broad range of new skills. Whilst you will be working in a fast-paced environment, Greencore provides extensive support throughout your role and will encourage you to reach your full potential within the company.
What we’re looking for
- A passion for food and ideally an undergraduate studying a business-related or food-science degree, though not exclusive to these however, we welcome applications from all degree backgrounds if you have a passion for food. (Must be mid degree, not mid masters)
- Confidence in handling data and good numeracy skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience of working as part of a team
- A clearly articulated motivation to learn more about the food industry
- A desire to learn how Commercial teams contribute to a business success and drive engaging and valued partnerships with our customers
- An ability to apply practical ideas and demonstrate your adaptability
- A curiosity to explore, learn and show initiative
- A full UK driver’s licence with own transport is preferred for Lincolnshire and Selby placements as our locations and suppliers are not always readily accessible by public transport
- An existing ‘right to work’ in the UK, we are unable to sponsor visas as part of the Placement
- At Greencore we put our people at the core. We celebrate their differences and help everyone to be themselves at work. Together we make every day taste better.
If this sounds like you, join us and grow with Greencore, and be a part of driving our future success.
What you’ll get in return
- You will work with an experienced line manager who will conduct regular performance reviews and support you through a skills checklist to ensure your development.
- Assuming everything progresses as planned, Greencore will assist you in identifying the right career opportunities upon completing your degree. This could include direct entry roles or positions within our Graduate programmes.
- From day one, you will take responsibility for your work area and personal development, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided.
What’s next:
Once you have submitted your online application, it will be reviewed to ensure you meet the required criteria. If you meet all the requirements and are selected to progress, you will move on to Stages 2 and 3: an automated online video interview and online aptitude testing.
Once both stages have been completed and reviewed, successful candidates will progress to the final stage: an in-person assessment day, held at one of our sites or another designated venue.
