About Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials:
What if your work could shape the materials that power everyday life — from the cities we live in, to the healthcare we rely on, to the technologies driving our future? At Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials (OF&EM), this is exactly what we do. Count on a welcoming environment where purpose meets impact. Here, we collaborate across the Americas, Europe and Asia to develop, manufacture and supply fluoroproducts that play a fundamental role in advancing life around the world.
We foster a culture where diverse perspectives are valued, where you can contribute authentically, and where innovation and well-being go hand in hand. We encourage our people to grow, explore new solutions and become the best version of themselves. You will join an international, professional team and benefit from a competitive compensation package.
Orbia Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is hiring a Global Business Development Manager to be based at Thornton Science Park, Cheshire, UK.
Hybrid role with up to 25% of domestic and international travel.
Main Purpose
The Global Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and developing strategic growth opportunities in adjacent markets beyond the current medical propellant offering, with a primary focus on the pharmaceutical, life sciences, and agrochemical sectors. The role will broaden the business offering of the world-renowned ZEPHEX brand by leveraging Orbia Fluor Energy Materials' core strengths, including GMP manufacturing capabilities, fluorine chemistry expertise, high-purity fluorinated chemicals, medical and environmental regulatory know-how, and a secure, integrated fluorine supply chain.
The successful candidate will proactively identify emerging market trends, customer needs, and business opportunities, evaluate their strategic fit, and develop robust business cases to support investment and portfolio decisions. Working closely with commercial, technical, manufacturing, regulatory, and strategy teams, they will coordinate cross-functional assessments, build external partnerships where appropriate, and provide the analytical and commercial foundation for new growth initiatives.
The role is primarily focused on opportunity identification, strategic evaluation, and business case development. It will support the Business Unit Head in prioritizing growth opportunities and preparing initiatives for execution, enabling the business to expand its portfolio and create new sources of sustainable growth.

-
Lead the preparation of business proposals, partnership concepts, and opportunity assessments, working closely with commercial, technical, manufacturing, regulatory, finance, and legal teams.
-
Coordinate cross-functional teams to assess technical, operational, regulatory, and commercial feasibility of new business opportunities.
-
Present strategic recommendations and business cases to senior management to support portfolio development and investment decisions.
-
Support the Business Unit Head in developing and maintaining a strategic growth opportunity pipeline and prioritizing initiatives for execution.
Qualifications
-
Advanced degree in business/engineering/sciences
Knowledge/ Experience Required
-
7+ years of experience in new business development, product management, strategic marketing, technology commercialization, innovation management, or a similar commercial role within the pharmaceutical, life sciences or specialty chemicals industries.
-
Demonstrated track record of identifying, validating, and developing new business opportunities, products, technologies, or partnerships from concept through to investment recommendation.
-
Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and/or life sciences value chain, including customer needs, regulatory requirements, manufacturing processes, and commercial dynamics. Experience in adjacent specialty chemical markets is advantageous.
-
Naturally curious, entrepreneurial, and self-driven, with a passion for discovering new opportunities through direct engagement with customers, industry experts, and external partners.
-
Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage senior technical, commercial, and scientific stakeholders both inside and outside the organization.
-
Excellent analytical and commercial acumen, with the ability to translate market insights into compelling business cases and actionable recommendations.
-
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership through clear, evidence-based recommendations.
-
Comfortable working independently in an ambiguous environment, taking ownership of opportunity discovery while coordinating effectively across multiple functions.
