Regional Operations Manager – North Region

Salary: Competitive + Bonus (up to 25%) + Car Allowance
Regional Geography: Scottish Borders down to Lancaster in the West and Guisborough to the East

At Bell, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for an experienced and driven Regional Operations Manager to lead multiple branches across the North region, delivering operational excellence, driving commercial performance, and developing high-performing teams.

This is a senior leadership role suited to an ambitious operations professional with strong people management expertise and a proven track record of successfully delivering planned works and project-based contracts within construction, property services, or a related sector.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring branches operate safely, efficiently, and profitably while aligning with Bell’s values and strategic objectives.

What you’ll be doing

As Regional Operations Manager, you will be accountable for the performance, growth, and operational delivery of multiple branches across the region.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing Branch Managers and wider regional teams
  • Creating a high-performing culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Driving operational delivery across planned works and project-based contracts
  • Ensuring all branches operate safely and remain compliant with health & safety, environmental, and legislative requirements
  • Developing and implementing regional and branch strategies aligned with wider business objectives
  • Managing branch performance against financial targets, forecasts, and budgets
  • Supporting successful mobilisation and delivery of significant new contracts
  • Building and maintaining strong client, supplier, and stakeholder relationships
  • Working closely with commercial, estimating, surveying, HR, and support teams to ensure consistent business performance
  • Driving operational efficiencies, improving self-delivery capability, and reducing reliance on subcontractors
  • Overseeing branch reporting, performance reviews, and operational audits

This is a highly visible leadership position requiring someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational management.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a confident leader with strong commercial awareness and a passion for developing people.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Significant experience in an operational leadership or commercial management role
  • Strong experience delivering planned works and projects contracts
  • A proven track record in managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Experience managing multiple sites, contracts, or business units
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management experience
  • Knowledge of construction health & safety compliance and building regulations
  • Good understanding of employment law and people processes
  • Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Office packages including Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Full UK driving licence

Qualifications

Essential or desirable qualifications include:

  • HNC / Foundation Degree / NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent)
  • Relevant construction or commercial qualification (desirable)
  • IOSH Managing Safely and/or SMSTS
