About the Role

We are a small, friendly and supportive team made up of a diverse range of professionals, including Learning and Development Consultants, Carer Practice Advisors, Professional Development Leads and Professional Development Managers. You will have the support and guidance of a Senior Business Support Coordinator and Business Support Team Leader.

In the Adults Academy, our vision is to cultivate a thriving, inclusive and compassionate learning culture where people are supported to grow and reach their potential. Through learning, practice improvement, quality assurance and inclusion, we strengthen practice, support recruitment and retention, and equip our workforce to deliver safe, high-quality services and the best outcomes for Surrey residents, carers and communities.

We're now looking for a proactive, organised and adaptable Business Support Coordinator who is passionate about helping others and delivering excellent customer service. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, confidently managing a busy and varied workload while balancing competing priorities across multiple mailboxes, systems and stakeholders.

This role draws on our vision to have the right workforce with the right skills in place for all operational staff to do their job well for the benefit of our residents.

Your key responsibilities as a Business Support Coordinator will include:

  • Delivering effective business support: You will provide an effective and efficient business support service to the Adult Social Care Directorate, including financial recording, data management and business processes that support the delivery of frontline services.
  • Providing specialist advice: You will develop expertise in at least one specialist area of the business support function and provide clear, reliable advice to colleagues across Adult Social Care
  • Improving systems and ways of working: You will maintain robust processes that support best practice, contribute ideas for continuous improvement, and explore new and more efficient ways of working, including the appropriate use of AI and digital tools.
  • Support procurement and commissioning: You will support the efficient procurement and commissioning of high-quality, cost-effective services through the development, maintenance and regular review of relevant business support systems, processes and procedures.
  • Working collaboratively and responding to change: You will work closely with the team and service representatives, maintaining awareness of existing and proposed legislative and other developments affecting services to identify and apply cost-effective improvements to business processes and strategies. Deliver an excellent service and building positive relationships with colleagues, managers, learners, providers and external partners.
  • Accuracy, financial awareness and attention to detail: You will confidently maintain records, check information, support financial processes and ensure work is completed correctly first time.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

  • Experience of maintaining and improving business support systems and processes and strong administrative, organisational and analytical skills
  • Experience of effective partnership working and building constructive relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders to resolve issues and support shared objectives
  • Ability to produce, interpret and present data, reports and information
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with strong customer-service skills
  • Ability to prioritise competing workloads and work independently using sound judgement and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in IT tools and systems, with experience and confidence in using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint to collaborate and share documents

The role holder will need to have the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meet the demands of the role.

To apply, we request that you submit a CV and answer the following 3 questions (maximum 500 words per question):

  • Please tell us about a time when you received a request, problem or enquiry that was not straightforward. What was the situation, what actions did you take, and what was the outcome?
  • Please give us an example of a situation where you had to work with colleagues, stakeholders or another team to achieve a shared goal. How did you build relationships, manage different views and contribute to the successful outcome?
  • Please tell us about a time when you had several competing priorities, or when plans changed unexpectedly. How did you organise your workload, make decisions about priorities and ensure important work was completed?
