Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year

Job Description:

Business Support Executive

As a family-run agency, we are passionate about people. With over 25 years of experience and a commitment to excellence, we have established ourselves as market-leading trusted partners to leading companies across the UK and beyond. Join our team and take your career to new heights with exciting challenges, growth opportunities, and a supportive, collaborative work environment.

We are seeking a Business Support Executive to join our team. Payroll is at the heart of this role — you will own the end-to-end processing of weekly contractor payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with HMRC regulations. Alongside this, you will be responsible for the compliant onboarding of our contractors and the smooth day-to-day operation of the team. We have recently implemented a new timesheet system and are looking for someone with a proactive, tech-savvy mindset who can adapt quickly, pick up new platforms with confidence, and help embed best practice across the business. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Payroll

· Prepare payroll reports for management review.

· Liaise with contractors to resolve any payroll queries promptly and professionally.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, ensuring full compliance with relevant statutory requirements.

· Process and manage weekly payroll for all contractors accurately and on time, ensuring payments are correct and deadlines are never missed.

· Take ownership of our newly implemented timesheet system — learn the platform quickly, support contractors and internal stakeholders with queries, and help drive adoption and accuracy across the business.

· Verify and reconcile timesheet data prior to each payroll run, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

· Liaise with clients to obtain timesheet approvals and purchase orders, ensuring all necessary authorisations are in place ahead of payroll processing.

· Proactively identify and resolve payroll issues and discrepancies, escalating where appropriate and communicating outcomes clearly to all relevant parties.

· Use Microsoft Excel confidently to manage, track and audit payroll data, including the use of formulas, spreadsheets and reports.

Compliance

· Ensure candidates are compliant before interview and before they are placed on a contract.

· Manage, control, and own the compliance tracker within the team. Raise issues to internal/external stakeholders for non-compliance issues.

· Ensure contracts are sent in a timely manner

· Liaise regularly with the team to ensure a full understanding of billings and predictions.

· Manage key programs within the team, covering topics such as aftercare, found fee radar and offer management.

· Provide key analysis and metrics to the team, covering performance, averages, ratios, etc.

· Build a strong understanding/management of these and become a subject matter expert.

· Complete ad-hoc tasks required for the team.

· Maintaining and controlling email inboxes

· Maintaining a good understanding of new laws and legislations

Requirements:

· Excellent telephone manner.

· Strong organisation/prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple payroll deadlines simultaneously.

· Ability to remain steady under pressure.

· Strong internal and external communication skills.

· Commercial awareness and flexibility - willingness to go over and above for the business.

· A technically open mindset — comfortable learning new software and systems quickly. Prior experience with payroll or timesheet platforms is a bonus, but a willingness to learn is essential.

· Experience with payroll processing or a strong numerical aptitude, with keen attention to detail when handling financial data.

· If you are an ambitious and driven individual, apply now and start your journey with Technical Resources.
