CAD Designer (SolidWorks / SWOOD)

Mid Kent (drivers with own transport only due to location)

c. £35,000–£45,000 (negotiable) depending on experience + benefits + training/investment + overtime + progression
Full time, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week on a permanent basis

An established, growing manufacturer is looking for an experienced CAD Designer to help turn bespoke project briefs into well-considered designs that production teams can work from.

You’ll work closely with the people making your designs, tackle the finer technical details and see projects through from initial drawings to finished pieces.

The role

  • Build detailed models and drawing packs using SolidWorks and SWOOD
  • Translate architectural information and customer requirements into workable designs
  • Work through materials, construction details and assembly requirements before manufacture
  • Coordinate with project and production colleagues, including the CNC team
  • Keep drawings, changes and project information organised across several live jobs
  • Discuss technical details with clients and design teams to resolve queries

The required skills and experience

  • Practical experience using SWOOD – this is ESSENTIAL
  • The ability to use SolidWorks to an advanced level
  • A track record of designing bespoke products for manufacture
  • Sound knowledge of timber, sheet materials, jointing and assembly methods
  • Confidence reading architectural drawings and explaining technical solutions
  • Careful, accurate working habits and the ability to keep projects moving
