We are a leading designer and manufacturer of bespoke special-purpose surface finishing equipment, delivering cutting-edge solutions to customers across a wide range of industries. As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a talented and ambitious Deputy Design Engineering Manager to join our team.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Design Engineering Manager, you'll play a key role in leading the design function, supporting engineering projects from concept through to manufacture, installation, and commissioning. You'll help drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and ensure innovative, high-quality solutions are delivered on time and within budget.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Working out of our modern offices at Membury, Berkshire
  • Supporting the management and development of three Design Engineers
  • Leading mechanical design activities for bespoke capital equipment projects
  • Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation
  • Collaborating with manufacturing, project management, purchasing, and service teams
  • Identifying opportunities for product improvement and innovation
  • Supporting customer meetings, technical discussions, and project reviews
  • Helping to develop engineering processes, standards, and best practices
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineers

What We're Looking For

  • HNC/D or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience designing special-purpose machinery, automated equipment, or capital machinery projects

  • Strong 3D CAD experience using Inventor with experience in Frame Generator and Tubing & Piping essential
  • Excellent problem-solving and technical leadership skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

Hours of work

8:00am – 4:30pm Monday – Thursday 1/2 hour lunch

8:00am – 1:00pm Friday
