At Gateshead College, we are passionate about transforming lives through education and developing the skilled workforce our region needs. We are looking for an enthusiastic, industry-experienced Teacher of Engineering to join our successful Engineering department.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in CNC machining and manufacturing to share their knowledge and inspire the next generation of engineers. Whether you already have teaching experience or are looking to move from industry into education, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Teacher of Engineering, you will deliver high-quality teaching and practical training across a range of engineering programmes, helping learners develop the technical skills, knowledge and behaviours required for successful careers within modern manufacturing.

The role will primarily focus on machining and manufacturing, with particular emphasis on CNC machine operation, programming and precision engineering. You will work with learners across full-time, apprenticeship and adult programmes, supporting them to achieve outstanding outcomes and progress into skilled employment or further study.

Working within our modern engineering facilities, you will deliver engaging practical and theory sessions, assess learner progress, maintain high standards of health and safety, and work closely with employers to ensure our curriculum reflects current industry practice.

You will become part of a supportive and ambitious team committed to delivering an outstanding learner experience and developing the engineers of tomorrow.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

A commitment to supporting learners to achieve their full potential.

Desirable Requirements

Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with experience in:

CNC programming using Fanuc, Siemens, or similar control systems.

CAD/CAM software.

Conventional milling and turning.
